When I see you upset, when I see you cry,
Before I could think, to ask the reason why,
My hands reach up, reach up to dry,
To wipe away the tears, the tears from your eye..

Seeing you hurt, is a very painful sight,
Controlling my anger, takes all my might..
I want to hold you close and I want to hold you tight,
Till you stop crying and start to feel alright..

I have never wanted to be there for someone,
The way I want to be there for you..
But I know that's not how it's done,
I know it's not my place to do...

I know you have someone else to keep you strong,
but if I too want to be there, is it so wrong?
I wish you needed me, the way you used to,
